I have just recently come across the website Pandora.com and I think it's the most amazing thing ever.

Basically, the idea behind it is; by using the Music Genome Project it classifies a band's strong points and then gives you 9 other artists that are comparable.

It's really truly amazing, and it's definitely worth checking out and using.

I much prefer last.fm, which does something similar except there's a small application that analyzes the mp3s you listen to and gives recommendations or builds a radio station based on what you've been listening to. Alternatively, you can still type in any band's name and start a station based on that. Or, you can listen to your friends' stations. Oh, and it also recommends concerts that will be near you based on what you're listening to.

Last.fm is great!

If anyone's on there, my username is kwikyslush. Add me!

Like Cornelius Agrippa, I am god, I am hero, I am philosopher, I am demon and I am world, which is a tedious way of saying that I do not exist.

I'm on there as well, but here I get a lot more recommendations.

pandora has been around for a while and seems pretty novel at first, however the restrictions on it can get a bit annoying after a while.  music licensing and copyrights prevents them from letting you skip too many tracks on one radio station (i think the limit is 5 per hour) which for most people isn't too much of a problem, but I'm one of those people who are always searching for something new that stands out and so I find myself annoyed all the time.

overall i love pandora though.  i'm on there once a week tossing in a band or song name that i love and seeing what pandora can offer.

Yeah! I love pandora too! It's been around for a while and its super compatable with my favorite online music magazine: idiomag. You should check it out, it lets you upload your pandora account to customize a music magazine to only the music you listen to.
idiomag.com is the place to check it out. Let me know if you like it.
I'm kind of a big deal
