Pete Doherty - Hero.

Just to warn you, this is my first blog post thing. I'm new and I don't have a fucking clue what to do, so I'm just going to write loads of random crap, and hope people notice and enjoy it. That probably won't happen, but fuck it.

Anyway, Peter Doherty. If I dare say that name, the majority of people would shake their head in disgust. They would find this man disgusting, a discgrace to England, just another junkie. But there is a small percentage of people who, like myself, absolutely adore this man. People who think he's kind, clever, charming and so, so beautiful.

When I first became a fan of Pete, I was quite young and naive. I couldn't see why most of my friends hated him so much. My Mum later explained to me that because he took drugs, people thought he was a bad person.I couldn't get my head around it, and I still can't to this day. But - even though I disagreed - I accepted and moved on. Afterall, these people are allowed opinions.

But that's when more and more people knew I was a fan of him. A lot of my family told me I shouldn't listen to his music, because he's a bad person. They said disgusting things about him, which I found a lot more disgusting than the drugs he does. I started doing research on drugs, seeing what they can do to you, and what I found was nowhere near as bad as I suspected.

I then thought that Pete can't be the only musician who has taken drugs. So I did more research, to see which other celebrities used them. I found a lot more than I expected. I didn't understand why the media picked on Pete so much, when there were all these other talentless, horrible people they could choose from. I couldn't understand why they picked Pete out from all these people.

I told my family about all the other famous people that do/did drugs, some of them were their heroes. They ignored the point though, and just started talking about how awful Pete is again.

Another thing I don't understand is why people think of Pete as such a bad role model. If anything, he shows us why we shouldn't do drugs. Despite the common view, I can't see how he glamourises drugs in any way what so ever. Pete doesn't tell his fans to do drugs, or make it seem ok in anyway at all. I would bet anyone that you're more likely to see a fan of Paris Hilton go around wearing a skirt that's about as long as a belt and a skimpy little top on, trying to get off with all the boys, than you would see a Pete Doherty fan doing drugs.

In the words of the man himself, "I know more racist, sexist, bullies, aggressors than I do crackheads. And I know who I'd rather hang out with any day of the week." I couldn't have put it better myself.

The Console Warriors are an amazing new australian indie band not even signed yet and are without a doubt ten times better than a lot of popular music today. Any Audiophiles out there?

Sometimes I feel like I'm alone in the world of Audiophiles being an indi/punk/goth/metal/new wave fan but I know there is some more of us out there. I collect records and DVDAs plus SACDs but allot of the time that stuff is hard to come by if you like any of the music I listed above. I also use this site called HD Tracks allot. They have a pretty good collection of Indi stuff from like matador Records (cold cave, fucked up, pavement, Vampire Weekend) and obviously a bunch of classic rock, classical and jazz shit. Anyway, I'm curious to know what other people have found. Please tell me I'm not to only Audiophile in this world who doesn't own the entire motzart collection and visits boston market 5 times a week.
