SOMETIMES I

with a switchblade for a mouth
& a timebomb in my name
i wander ever closer to some
sort of fucked-up fame

i never seem to feel the things
that others seem to know
but even if it's not my boat
they still will make me row

sometimes i whisper quietly
& sometimes i just shout
& sometimes i just shut right up
before they find me out

some people like to think aloud
that everything is fine
but their hair's on fire again
for the seventh time

all these things i sing about
& all the things i don't
some are things i really do
& some are things i won't

sometimes i just run around
sometimes i run amok
sometimes i run right out of gas
& right into bad luck

loaded like a six-shooter
& aiming for your head
i say that you should go to sleep
& then i steal your bed

don't think that i'm a meanie
or that i'm violent
it's just the way i tend to talk
when all the money's spent
